The staff of Asclepius has been the symbol of physicians dating back to ancient mythology; however, due to a misunderstanding, when the Army Medical Corp added this symbol to their uniform in 1902, the caduceus became the emblem of modern medicine. This fountain pen is handcrafted from naturally shed moose antler, scrimshawed with my original artwork, and finally inlayed with mother of pearl. I have chosen to use the finest black rhodium accents which have black titanium decorations to frame this writing instrument. The nib is German made and has an iridium tip for an exceptionally smooth writing experience. It accepts a standard international sized ink cartridge, which is readily available where office supplies are sold. I also include a piston type converter should you prefer to fill your fountain pen from the bottled ink of your choice.
